Why Resistance Training is Better Than Aerobics to Lose Weight

Why Resistance Training is Better Than Aerobics to Lose Weight

  1. Every adult’s additional pound of muscle burns 75-100 kcal of fat at rest. That means if you put on one pound of muscle and don’t even work out, you burn 75-100 kcal of fat while sleeping. You burn most of your fat at night during sleep, anyway.
  2. If you gain ten pounds of additional muscle, which would be a good goal for most people, you will burn 75-1000 kcal of fat per day at rest. That’s 5250 kcal per week or about 1 1/2 pounds of fat burned – extra.
  3. Aerobics, for most people, will burn about 192-284 kcal of weight per day per two miles. That’s around 1500 kcal of weight per week.
  4. If you do correct resistance training only thrice weekly, you’ll burn 180-250 kcal of fat per workout. So that’s about 600 kcal of fat burned.
  5. What makes the math of resistance training so great is that you’ll be stronger, lither, limber, and you can keep your present muscle with just one hard workout per week. That means once you gain ten pounds of muscle and burn 5250 kcal of fat per week, only doing one hard workout per week will keep it so.
  6. Aerobics, certainly high-impact aerobics, is hard on the body. For example, each time you run, with both feet off the ground, you put 8x your body weight on the landing feet. This is why most people have to give up running and jogging after age 50 or so.
  7. With Body Gym resistance training, you can get an aerobic effect along with your resistance training because you can move from one exercise to another in a few seconds, as opposed to working in a gym or with home equipment. However, you need to adjust the resistance of those exercises, and that takes time. That will cost you the aerobic effect.
  8. With our program, you’ll also get stretching, aerobics, and maximum resistance on all basic 60 movements of the body – at home or even in an elevator.
  9. Math is on your side with our program, and you also recognize the difference between bodies carved with aerobics vs. weightlifting. Those weightlifting bodies are tight, firm, and shapely.
